Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala): Even though the state is witnessing a surge in covid cases, the government has decided not to impose weekly lockdowns in the state. The decision regarding this has been taken in a Covid-core committee meeting chaired by Chief Secretary.
At present there is no situation demanding implementation of weekend lockdown, it further evaluated. Meanwhile, the night curfew imposed in the state will come into force today.
The curfew will be in effect from 9 pm to 5 am for two weeks. In the meeting, it was decided to increase the covid tests in those areas which come under local self-government institutions where the positivity rates are higher.
It has been decided to collect samples of people from all homes in such areas.
