Pune:A love story of a Nigerian man and an Indian woman that started in the Kondhwa area of Pune met with a sad end in Delhi after the foreigner was found dead after going missing for several days. The deceased, identified as Ibrahim(45), is suspected of being a drug smuggler by the Mumbai police, citing traces of narcotic substances in his stomach as found in the post-mortem reports.
The story unfolded after Ibrahim's wife filed a missing complaint in the Kondhwa police station in Pune on August 1. As per the received information, Ibrahim moved to India about a decade ago, got married to an Indian woman here and settled in Pune. However, 10 years after his marriage, he suddenly went missing some time around mid-July this year. His wife, worried about his well-being, filed a missing complaint with the Kondhwa police when she could not get in touch with Ibrahim for a long time.
The Kondhwa police launched a probe that led them to Mumbai. Inspector Sadanand Nate, who was handling the probe, informed that Ibrahim frequently visited Mira Nagar to see a friend identified as Andy. The Mumbai police took over the investigation after these revelations came to the fore. The probe further led the Mumbai police to Delhi, where Ibrahim was reportedly admitted for treatment at AIIMS after suffering from severe abdominal pain. He died there while receiving treatment on June 16 as per the official police records.
