New Delhi: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought reports from the Union Home Secretary, and Chief Secretaries of Assam and Mizoram government regarding the violence at Lailapur along Assam Mizoram border that left six Assam police personnel and a civilian dead.

The development comes after one Md. Injamul Haque, a resident of Kamrup District of Assam had filed a complaint before the NHRC alleging attack on senior police officers, officers of district administration and others by a mob and Mizoram police. The petitioner had also provided details regarding the violent clashes that occurred on July 26 at the Assam Mizoram border. The NHRC having gone through issue observed the allegations made by Haque to be disturbing.
