Nagpur: A high alert has been issued in Nagpur after police received information about a member of the Pakistan-sponsored terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed had conducted recce in Nagpur.
Nagpur Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar also confirmed the development.
"Yesterday, we received information that a few Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists conducted a recce of some places in Nagpur, he said.
"They conducted recce on the Sangh headquarters building in Nagpur. It is understood that recce has been done not only at the Sangh headquarters but also at important places in Nagpur," he added.
"The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is headquartered in Nagpur where Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat and important office bearers of the Sangh reside. There is also Hedgewar Bhavan at Reshimbagh. It is understood that Jaish-e-Mohammed did recce of important places including these two places," the Police Commissioner stated. He said that photos of these places have been taken and security has been tightened in the case.
He also said that a case has been registered under the UAPA Act in this regard.
A youth was arrested by a Central Agency in Jammu and Kashmir. According to sources, he had come to Nagpur from Jammu and Kashmir and stayed in the city for two days in July 2021. It is also learnt that Nagpur Police will set up a committee to inquire into this matter.
