Mysuru: Amid the ongoing heavy rains in Bengaluru, the defense wall of the Ambavilasa Palace collapsed on Tuesday. The palace holds historical importance as the building is a heritage building. While the rains are the primary reason for the collapse, heritage experts are also citing the lack of maintenance of the building as the reason for the collapse.
This fort was built by the kings of Mysore, aimed at protecting themselves from enemy attacks. After the fort wall located between the Maramma Temple and the Jaya Marthanda Gate collapsed, some officials of the district administration and heritage experts visited the incident site and inspected it. The officials noted that there are several cracks across the premises of the entire building, while there are chances of other walls also collapsing if the rain continues pouring the same way. The heritage officials have also given directions to initiate the repairs in order to avoid similar accidents.
