Muthoot Finance heist: Karnataka police nab accused red-handed

Acting on a tip-off from Muthoot Finance manager in Bengaluru, Karnataka police caught two miscreants red-handed while trying to rob jewellery worth Rs 4 crore.

Bengaluru:Karnataka police's swift action caught two miscreants red-handed while trying to tie the knot on a bag containing jewellery worth Rs 4 crore from Muthoot Finance in Subbayyapalya in Bannerghatta, Bengaluru. Revealing details about the case, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sharnappa told media on Wednesday that after planning meticulously, the duo wearing Zomata, Swiggy t-shirts opened the shutter and broke the door with weapons.

In order to hide their identity, CCTV cameras inside Muthoot Finance were cut off and DVRs were smashed. However, an alarm sounded when they touched the drawer containing gold. The manager of Muthoot Finance received an alert message instantly and Banaswadi police were informed.

The duo was from Nepal, as per Sharnappa. The accused Rohan and Agari had reached Bengaluru five years ago. They lived in two separate apartments in Horamavu and worked as security guards. Sharnappa also added that they were relatives and they were debt-trapped.
