Two minors raped in separate incidents in Mumbai; one nabbed, another absconding

The principal of a school in Mumbai's Nagpada area was booked for raping one of his minor students on Monday. Another man has been arrested for raping the 20-month old baby of his neighbour.

Mumbai: Two cases of rapes of minor children have come to the fore in Mumbai. The principal of a school in the Nagpada area was booked for raping one of his minor students on Monday. The victim continued to tolerate the ordeals and kept quiet about it as she was threatened not to tell anyone about the incident. She gradually gave in and informed her parents, following a complaint lodged at the local police station.

According to the victim, the principal used to call her to his cabin and abuse her sexually. Mumbai police have taken cognizance of the matter, while an FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The school principal is currently absconding, while the officials are on the lookout for him. Police said that the principal is absconding and a further investigation into the matter is underway.

In another similar incident in Mumbai, a 35-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a 20-month-old child in Mumbai's Worli police station area. A case has been registered against the accused under Section 376 of the IPC and the POCSO Act as well.

The accused in this case took a hold of the baby while its mother was not around and took it to his house where the accused raped the minor victim. The mother of the child returned to see that the child was crying uncontrollably. Concerned about the well-being of the child, she rushed to a hospital, where the doctors told her that the child has been raped. The woman lodged a complaint, while the police nabbed the accused based on a thorough investigation.
