Mumbai:Suspended Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Telangana T Raja Singh has been booked for allegedly delivering a hate speech at a rally in Mumbai on January 29, a police official said on Thursday. A case was registered nearly two months after Singh’s speech at the rally organised by the Hindu Sakal Samaj between Shivaji Park and Labour Board office was examined, the Dadar police station official said.
Singh, as per a police official, was booked under Section 153-A (1) (a) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for allegedly making provocative statements that may promote or create enmity between two communities and disrupt religious harmony.
The MLA from Goshamahal in Telangana capital Hyderabad was speaking during the morcha held to discuss various issues facing the Hindu community, especially women. There were other BJP leaders who participated in the rally however only Raja Singh addressed the crowd for almost 30 minutes during which he raked the conspiracy theory of 'love-jihad' and targeted the Muslim community.
“It is time the Hindu community gets together and stands up against domination by a community. Our sisters and daughters are falling prey to these systematic schemes by a community. I urge every Hindu to boycott the purchase of any goods from shops run by members of the minority community," Singh said in his speech.
Singh, who has a history of making incendiary communal speeches, was arrested in August last year for allegedly making objectionable remarks against Prophet Mohammed in a video posted on social media. The Hyderabad police booked him under PD Act and later he was suspended by the party. He is currently out on conditional bail by the Telangana High Court in the case.
