Chennai (Tamil Nadu): The Madras High Court on Tuesday adjourned the ongoing defamation case filed by cricketer MS Dhoni against a private television seeking Rs 100 crore in compensation. Dhoni in 2014 had filed a suit against media companies and also suspended Tamil Nadu Police officer G. Sampath Kumar (IPS). The IPS officer, who was investigating the IPL gambling probe, had issued a statement saying that the former Indian cricket team skipper was also involved in the gambling.
Following the reports, seeking Rs 100 crore, MS Dhoni had filed a defamation case against a private television channel that conducted a debate on the issue. In this context, the private television replied, "The Chennai Super Kings team was involved in match-fixing along with the Rajasthan Royals team. The mediator Kitty, testified that Dhoni was involved in gambling."
