MP: IAF officer kills self in Gwalior hostel

Speaking to reporters, Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dandotia said that Singh died by suicide in his hostel room on Wednesday morning adding that he was posted at the Maharajpura Air Base.

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh):An Indian Air Force (IAF) officer on Wednesday allegedly died by suicide in his hostel room in Gwalior city of Madhya Pradesh. According to police, the deceased identified as Jaidutt Singh (25) was working as a flying officer and was posted in the engineering branch at the Maharajpura Air Base in Gwalior.

Police said that Singh who hailed from Gujarat's Bhavnagar was transferred to Gwalior in January. Speaking to reporters, Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dandotia said that Singh died by suicide in his hostel room on Wednesday morning adding that he was posted at the Maharajpura Air Base.

He said that upon being informed about the incident, police rushed to the spot adding that no suicide note was recovered from Singh's hostel room. The ASP said that Singh was supposed to report to duty at 6 am but ended his own life before it. He also said that the deceased was unmarried and his family members have been informed about the incident. "Investigation has started," he said. (with Agency inputs)
