Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh):A miscreant, who came in a car pointed a pistol at the imam of Abu Bakr Masjid located under Kareli Police Station limits on Monday, and threatened to eliminate him. The incident was captured in the CCTV camera installed on the mosque premises.
Based on the CCTV footage, the police launched a man-hunt to nab the accused. The incident is said to have happened regarding the land
attached to the mosque.
Imam Imam Fakrul Hasan Qasmi said that he was sitting in his office after offering the namaz. Then the unknown man entered the office and abused him by pointing a pistol at him. It was alleged that the accused had threatened to kill him by firing in the air.

A miscreant fired in the air to threaten the imam of a mosque in Prayagraj of Uttar Pradesh in order to grab the land belonging to the mosque. Based on a complaint, police registered a case and launched a man-hunt to nab the accused.

On hearing the pistol sound, those who came to offer namaz to the mosque and locals rushed to the precincts, but he ran away from the spot on seeing the crowd. According to imam, the accused was threatening him over the phone since morning. In the CCTV footage, it was recorded that the accused had a scuffle with some people present in the mosque. On receiving information, people rushed to the spot.
Imam Fakrul Hasan Qasmi said that he has been offering services in the mosque for the past five years and added that he has no dispute with anyone. However, someone is trying to sell the land attached to the mosque. The land belongs to Wakf Board. Hence, nobody has the right to sell the land. In this regard, the imam was reportedly receiving threats. On Monday, the man identified as Rashid Faridi visited the mosque with an intention to eliminate him as he was opposing the selling of the mosque land. However, after the incident, the imam lodged a complaint and based on it, the Kareli police registered a case and are investigating the case by taking CCTV footage into their possession.
