Meerut: Eight covid patients die of alleged oxygen shortage

Eight covid patient patients died at a private hospital in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The bereaved relatives of the dead patients alleged the patients died after the oxygen supply stopped. However, the Chief Medical Officer of Meerut Dr Akhilesh Mohan told ETV Bharat that the Covid patients died due to co-morbidities.

Meerut (Uttar Pradesh):At least eight patients died at a private hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut on Sunday after the oxygen supply at the facility allegedly dropped.

However, the Chief Medical Officer of Meerut Dr Akhilesh Mohan told ETV Bharat that the Covid patients died due to co-morbidities and dismissed the allegations by the dead patients' relatives.

Meanwhile, angry family members of the deceased COVID-19 patients created a ruckus at the hospital. They alleged that the patients died due to a disruption in the oxygen supply.

"I had spoken to the doctors here. They said that the patients who died suffered from co-morbidities. Family members alleged that the oxygen supply was disrupted for some time. The allegations are being investigated," said Chief Medical Officer.

"The oxygen supply is very tight. The authorities are trying to meet the demand for the oxygen," Mohan added.

According to official data, there are 2,95,752 active COVID-19 cases in Uttar Pradesh.
