Lucknow: After the recovery of Dalit woman's body from the farmland of a Samajwadi Party (SP) leader in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh, BSP chief Mayawati has expressed her anguish and demanded stringent action against the culprit.

In a Tweet, Mayawati said, "The family members of Unnao Dalit woman had been searching for her whereabouts as well as they were also pointing a needle of suspicion towards the Samajwadi Party leader. Now, the Unnao police have exhumed the body from the farmland of the SP leader which is tragic and serious matter. The state government must provide justice to aggrieved family members of the deceased Dalit woman. Stringent action should be taken against the culprits."

Meanwhile, the victim's mother says that she suspected Rajol Singh and he being the son of the former minister, police did not take any action. On January 24, she jumped in front of SP president, Akhilesh Yadav's car and reported the case to him to which Rajol was arrested on February 4 as the girl was not found.

The victim's mother accused the police and said that policeman Akhilesh Pandey and outpost in-charge Prem Prakash Dixit constantly abused her and accused her of extorting Rs 4 lakh by making a false missing report of her daughter. Unnao police are now under question after the girl's body was found. The police said that they are probing the case and it is too soon to give any sort of statement now. The police have also called in the postmortem team to investigate the case better.
