Bahraich (UP): Five persons including three children died of electrocution on Sunday in Bahraich of Uttar Pradesh after they accidentally came in contact with a high-tension wire, police said adding that four persons suffered burn injuries during the incident.

Police sources said that the accident took place at around 4 am in Masupur village in the Nanpara area when the villagers were taking out a procession and an iron rod in the cart they were travelling in came in contact with the high voltage wire.

Bahraich Senior Superintendent of Police Keshav Kumar Choudhary said that the incident took place in Masupur village of Nanpara area. He also said that the deceased have been identified as Sufian (12), Ilyas (16), Ashraf Ali (30) and Tabrez (16), residents of Bhaggadwa of Nanpara area, and Shafiq (12) from Malhipur in Shravasti district.

"Relatives of the deceased have told police that they don't want postmortem of the bodies to be conducted as no one is to be blamed for the accident," he added. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to provide treatment to the injured.
