Manchu Vishnu defeats Prakash Raj, wins MAA president post

The panels led by veteran actor Prakash Raj and Manchu Vishnu have fought for supremacy and worked hard to romp home. They took it as a prestigious issue and left no stone unturned to win the elections. Finally, Manchu Vishnu and his panel members have been elected.

Hyderabad:Tollywood actor and son of veteran actor and producer M Mohan Babu, Manchu Vishnu, has been elected president of the MAA (Movie Artistes Association) after he defeated actor Prakash Raj in the election, that was conducted on Sunday.

All the members of the panel led by Vishnu except one have been elected while M Srikanth, who contested on behalf of the Prakash Raj panel, has been elected as the vice-president. Following his defeat, Prakash Raj has resigned from the primary membership of the MAA.

Manchu Manoj will be the president of MAA for two years. Over 600 votes have been polled while the polling percentage was increased compared to the earlier elections. Interestingly, some of the MAA members, who stay in Mumbai, Chennai and Bangaluru, also cast their votes. The election was conducted at Jubilee Hills Public School in Hyderabad.

Tollywood heroes K Chiranjeevi, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Akkineni Nagarjuna, Pawan Kalyan, Ramcharan, Roja, Nitya Menon, Genelia, Brahmanandam, Posani Krishnamurali, Rajendra P, Akhil, Sudheer Babu, Anupama Parameswaran and others exercised their franchise. Over 883 members have voter identity cards out of 925 members of MAA.
