New Delhi:A young man, who allegedly attempted suicide along with a woman by setting themselves on fire, died on Saturday morning, police said. The 27-year-old man had suffered 65 per cent burn injuries, they said. The 24-year-old woman, who has sustained 85 per cent burn injuries, is undergoing treatment.
Police said the woman was allegedly raped by Bahujan Samaj Party MP Atul Rai in 2019. The MP has been in judicial custody in the case for the last two years. Before setting themselves ablaze, the duo had recorded a Facebook Live video in which the woman revealed her identity and her ordeal. She said she was raped by Rai and that senior police officers were supporting the MP.
