New Delhi: As the third and final phase of Bihar Assembly elections inches towards its end, senior CPI(M) leader Hannan Mollah said that Mahagathbandhan will bag majority seats in Bihar elections and will certainly win this time.

In an exclusive interview to ETV Bharat, Mollah, who is also a former Lok Sabha MP, said, "This time NDA-BJP government will face defeat. Though I can't confirm how many seats we (grand alliance) will get, but it's for sure that we will get the majority."

Mollah said that the grand alliance has lots of hope this time.

"The way voters came forward and participated in the festival of democracy is a positive signal. Under the regime of the Nitish Kumar-led government, the state witnessed chaos and negativity. They run a negative government," Mollah said, expressing optimism that there will be a new government post-election scenario.

The CPI(M) leader also claimed that the Nitish Kumar government has failed on all fronts.

"There was flood in Bihar, but people did not get any relief. The government did nothing for the migrated labourers who returned back to the State following the outbreak of Covid19. There was severe damage to the crops but farmers did not get any relief," said Mollah.

Slamming the JD(U) government on the law and order situation in the state, he said, "There was an increase of 140-150 per cent crime in the state. The state also witnessed communal violence. These are the reasons that people of Bihar will dethrone the Nitish Kumar led government this time," added Mollah.

RJD Chief and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav is the chief ministerial candidate of Mahagathbandhan or the Grand Alliance. While RJD is contesting on 144 seats and Congress on 70 seats, the Left parties are contesting on 29 seats.

Bihar witnessed a considerable voter turnout of 55 per cent in the first phase. The state saw 53.4 per cent of voter turnout in the second phase of Assembly elections.

In the first phase, polling took place for 71 Assembly constituencies, 94 constituencies went for polling in the second phase and in the third phase polling is taking place for 78 constituencies. In the 243 Bihar Assembly seats, the magic number is 122.

Results for the Bihar election will be declared on November 10. The Election Commission (EC) has been conducting the Assembly election with all Covid-19 precautions.
