Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar takes over command of One Strike Corps

Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, who took over as new Commander of One Strikes Corps, has won Ati Vishisht Seva Medal. Kartiyar also has experience in commanding the battalion and has also served as an instructor in the Indian Military Training Team.

New Delhi: Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar on Monday took over as the new commander of Mathura-based 'One Strike Corps'. The Corps is responsible for offensive operations along both Pakistan and China borders.

Katiyar, who has also been accorded with Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM), is an alumnus of Sainik School Ghorakhal. After his military training in National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, he was commissioned in 23rd Battalion of the Rajput Regiment in June 1986. He commanded his battalion twice along the Line of Control in J&K and also in Arunachal Pradesh. He commanded an Infantry Brigade along Western Borders and an Army HQ reserve Mountain Division.

The General Officer has done all important courses to include Defence Services Staff Course and attended the National Defence College. He is also a Distinguished Graduate of National War College, USA. He also served as an instructor in the Indian Military Training Team in Bhutan and as Directing Staff at Defence Services Staff College. His staff appointments include a Grade I post in Military Operations Directorate and Brigadier General Staff appointments in a Corps HQ and a Command HQ. His previous appointment was of Director General Staff Duties in Army HQ.

One Corps, popularly known as 'STRIKE ONE' was raised in May 1965 to be the ultimate instrument of the decision to achieve a decisive victory, it has sounded the trumpet on several occasions, raising a clarion call to arms. The formation moved to Jhansi in May 65 before moving into Mathura in August 1965.
