Dehradun (Uttarakhand):Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) has sworn in as the 8th Governor of Uttarakhand. The Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court Raghavendra Singh Chauhan administered the oath of office and secrecy to him at a simple function held at the Raj Bhawan.
Lt General Gurmit Singh, who retired in the year 2016 after 40 years of service in the Indian Army, had handled military-strategic issues related to China many times during his tenure. Singh had also been an observer of the United Nations in Iran. Besides, during his illustrious career in the Indian Army, he was accorded four President's awards for distinguished Service/Gallantry and two Chief of Army Staff commendation awards.
