Special Session in new Parliament: Both Houses adjourned for the day, proceedings to continue tomorrow

After the old Parliament building hosted a session one last time on Monday, the Special Session of the Parliament - both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha - will meet in the new building on Tuesday. New Delhi:After the old Parliament building hosted a session one last time on Monday, the Special Session of the Parliament will begin in the new building on Tuesday. The shifting of the Lok Sabha to the new building has been notified by its Speaker Om Birla in the gazette notification.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the Rajya Sabha members to unanimously approve the women's reservation bill - Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam - when it comes to the Upper House after being passed by Lok Sabha. Modi said the bill will be taken up in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. "When the bill comes before you, I urge Rajya Sabha members to approve it unanimously," Modi said. It is not just a new Parliament building, but a symbol of a new beginning, Modi said.

Arjun Ram Meghwal said that once the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam is passed, the number of seats for women in Lok Sabha will increase to 181. Discussion for passing of the Bill in the House will be taken up tomorrow, September 20. The Bill will be taken up in Rajya Sabha on September 21 government sources said.
