New Delhi: Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Chirag Paswan on Tuesday announced the new executive committee for the party, in which, the party's senior leader Raju Tiwari has been appointed as Executive Chairman and Sanjay Paswan has been appointed as the General Secretary.
Earlier, Tiwari has worked as LJP's Bihar Pradesh Parliamentary Board president and Paswan was the vice president of Bihar LJP.
Paswan's decision came after the LJP suffered another big blow on Monday when its lone MLC Nutan Singh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Last week, more than 200 mid-level and lower-rung leaders of LJP had joined the JD-U in Bihar.
A rattled LJP, which has been taking pride in having weakened the JD-U in the assembly election, lashed out at the deserters whom it sought to dismiss as 'traitors'. However, the LJP managed to win just one seat in the Bihar assembly elections.
BJP, RJD, JD(U), Congress won 74, 75, 43 and 19 seats respectively. With 4 seats each, VIP and HAM (S) had a crucial role to play in the ruling alliance breaching the majority mark. While LJP managed to bag just one seat with a vote share of 5.66%, a closer look at its performance suggests that it foiled JD(U)'s chances of emerging as the single-largest party.
