Bhopal: Lightning strikes claimed nine lives in Dewas and Agar Malwa districts of Madhya Pradesh over the last 24 hours. While six people died in Dewas, three people lost their lives in Agar Malwa. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and former Congress state president Arun Yadav have expressed grief over these incidents.
According to the official information, six people died due to lightning strikes in Tonkkhurd, Khal, Gagankheda and Bamni Buzurg in Dewas district Monday. Collector Chandramouli Shukla has immediately sanctioned financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of those who died in the incidents under the Revenue Book Circular 6-4 of Madhya Pradesh Government Revenue Department (Relief Branch). On the other hand, Deepa and Savitri, residents of Bamini Buzurg, have been referred to Indore after getting injured. Action is being taken according to rules in case of animal loss.
