Bengaluru: Karnataka Congress chief D K Shivakumar on Wednesday alleged that police obstruct farmers coming to Bengaluru to protest against the controversial farm laws. The protest was announced by the Congress party.

Shivakumar also urged farmers to stop wherever they were, “block highways” and protest in support of the farmers protesting in Delhi since November.

“I got several phone calls that farmers coming to Bengaluru from other districts are being stopped by police and are not being allowed to enter Bengaluru. I urge farmers to stop wherever they are, block highways, roads and protest in support of farmers,” he said.

He added, “I know the BJP government is trying to stop farmers at any cost and is not letting them participate in the protest. I request protesters to come to Sangolli Rayanna statue and participate in the massive protest rally."

The protest is part of ‘Raitha Adhikar Diwas’ being organised by the Congress. The rally would start from the Sangolli Rayanna Statue at Gandhi Nagar and would head to Freedom Park.
