New Delhi: Haryana government informed the Supreme Court on Monday that all the final allotments to the evicted residents of Khori gaon will be done by December 15 and any defects in the maintenance of premises will be taken with utmost urgency.
The bench comprising of Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice Dinesh Maheshwari was hearing a plea pertaining to the demolition of around 10,000 houses in Khori Gaon, Faridabad, for being illegally encroached on the forest land. The top court had ordered the Faridabad Municipal corporation to demolish the illegal structures and had asked eligible residents to be rehabilitated.
Haryana government had in the last hearing presented its rehabilitating scheme before the court in which people would be given houses next year and would be provided with Rs 2,000 as rental money till they are not allotted houses. Court had suggested that they be provisionally allotted houses and later after final scrutiny can be given final allotment. The court in the last hearing had asked the state to make the allotments within a week rather than next year.
Haryana government informed the court that it has received 2,391 applications for allotments out of which 892 are eligible. Out of all the eligible applicants, the government said 302 people have approached the government for provisional allotment letters. The last date of application has been extended to November 15 as per the residents' requests as they would need more time to complete the formalities.
