Hyderabad: Following reports that Chinese troops had transgressed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Uttarakhand, senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge Thursday questioned the government's silence over this.
“According to reports, 100 PLA soldiers entered 5-km inside Indian territory in Uttarakhand,” Kharge tweeted. “How long will our sovereignty be compromised by silence of Modi Govt? Will PM again say 'No one entered'? Will Defence Minister take responsibility & tell the truth to people of India?”

According to people familiar with th development, close to 100 soldiers of China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) transgressed the LAC in the Barahoti sector in Uttarakhand last month. The transgression took place August 30, and the Chinese troops returned from the area after spending a few hours, they said.
The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel are deployed in the area. As part of a tit-for-tat strategy, Indian troops carried out patrolling in the area.
The incident comes amid a continuing standoff between Indian and Chinese troops in a number of areas in eastern Ladakh though both sides completed disengagement in two sensitive locations.
