Hyderabad: As citizens in Kerala heads to exercise their franchise on April 6, people’s verdict would decide whether the state’s anti-incumbency tradition would continue or not. As the ruling Left Democratic Front resonated ‘LDF for sure, LDF sure for a consecutive term’ in its flamboyant rallies, the United Democratic Front put forth the slogan ‘UDF for a better Kerala’ while the Bharatiya Janata Party raised the slogan ‘New Kerala with Modi.’ As the triangular contest gets heated up, ETV Bharat illustrates the nuances of the election.
As per the Election Commission, Kerala has a total of 2,74,46,039 voters. It should also be noted that women voters are higher in proportion than men.While women constitute 1,37,79,263 voters, there are only 1,29,52,025 men and 221 transgenders in Kerala’s voters’ list.
Upon analysis it was found that the highest number of crorepati candidates are from Congress, followed by the BJP and the CPIM.
Tracking records, it was found that 38% of candidates have criminal background with the highest proportion from the INC, followed by the BJP and the CPIM.
