The RSS chief further said Hindus and Muslims living in India have same ancestors and Britishers made them fight by creating misconceptions among them. "Britishers told Muslims that they won't get anything if they decided to live with Hindus. They told that only Hindus will be elected and exhorted them to demand a separate (nation). They said Islam will disappear from India. Did it happen? No. Muslims can hold all posts," Bhagwat said while addressing the Muslim scholars and intellectuals.

"Britishers told Hindus that Muslims are extremists. As a result of that fight and trust deficit, both have been talking about keeping a distance from each other. We need to change our vision," he further said.

The RSS chief urged both Hindus and Muslims to walk together to take the country forward. "We have to wake up now to oppose the extremists. The longer it takes for this awareness to happen, the greater the damage to society," he stated.
