Kabul: Indian national abducted a few weeks ago, released

Indian businessman Bansari Lal Arendah who was abducted in Kabul on September 14, after the Taliban takeover has been recently released, Puneet Singh Chandhok, President of Indian World Forum informed on Thursday.

New Delhi: Indian businessman Bansari Lal Arendah who was abducted in Kabul on September 14, after the Taliban takeover has been recently released, Puneet Singh Chandhok, President of Indian World Forum informed on Thursday.

"I can confirm that Bansri Lal Arendah, Indian national businessmen age rounded 50 years who had been abducted on 14th September at gunpoint in Kabul has been released earlier today, a few hours back, and is currently with his elder brother Ashok Lal", said Puneet Singh Chandhok, President, Indian World Forum.

Chandhok said that he had informed the Ministry of External Affairs about the same and requested the ministry to further intervene in the matter. The ministry has conveyed good wishes to him upon his release.

According to Sikh activist Puneet Singh Chandhok, Bansari Lal (50) was abducted while he was heading to his shop in the morning.

Bansari Lal's family stays in New Delhi and he is into the business of pharmaceutical products and was on his usual routine to the shop along with his staff.

Earlier, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi had said, "We've seen a report about an Indian national - Bansari Lal - missing in Kabul. We're in touch with all concerned."

"We've seen reports about local authorities undertaking investigations. We'll continue to monitor the situation & tell you of any developments", he added.
