Barkagaon: International football player Jhalo Kumari is forced to work in the fields to make her ends meet due to the non-availability of jobs.
Jhalo, who lives with her in-laws in Barkagaon village in Jharkhand, helps her husband Kishan Kumar in the fields.
She has represented India against France in the International Football Tournament and has also played several matches for various countries like Brazil, Romania, Denmark and others. She has also bagged several prizes at the state and national levels.
Despite the Jharkhand government providing jobs to a number of sportspersons a month ago, Jhalo still has to manage without one. She claimed that she belongs to the Other Backward Caste (OBC) community and hence, the state govt is not helping her.
Talking to ETV Bharat, Jhalo said, "My friends Sandhya and Dular, who used to play international tournaments with me, got jobs under the SSB quota designated for sports. I have been trying to get a job since 2013 but in vain."
