Jallikattu bulls injure several people during annual Jallikattu Festival in TN

In Tamil Nadu, a raging bull knocked down a woman travelling on a two-wheeler with her husband during a Jallikattu competition in Thiruvannamalai. A video that captured the tragic incident is going viral. The bullfighting festival was held without permission this year.

A video that captured the brutal incident in parts is going viral on the internet. One of the bulls can be seen knocking off a woman from a bike, whereas other bulls can be seen running towards crowds of people trying to escape them.

Several people have been reported to be severely injured after this incident and are currently being treated at a nearby government hospital, whereas the Kannamangalam police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.

The bullfighting Jallikattu festival is held every year in the month of Markali black moon, which usually falls in the month of January. However, this year, the district administration did not permit the ceremony.

Despite the order, the festival was held on January 2 in Thiruvannamalai district, and was attended by about a thousand bull tamers from neighbouring districts, including Vellore, Ranipettai, Kanchipuram and Krishnagiri.
