Jammu and Kashmir : Two suspected militants arrested

The militants were identified as Mustafa Iqbal and Murtaza Iqbal. Six grenades, posters of militant groups based in Pakistan were seized from their house in Mendhar area of Poonch district.

Poonch: Jammu and Kashmir police along with the Army arrested two suspected militants and recovered six grenades from them on Sunday in Mendhar area of Poonch district.

They have been identified as Mustafa Iqbal and Murtaza Iqbal and police said that they are brothers. The police claimed the accused were planning to attack a temple in Ari village.

Police said that they were arrested from Galhuta village during a search operation and upon interrogation, the duo revealed that they had weapons hidden at home.

"During the search in their house, six grenades and some posters of militant groups based in Pakistan were recovered. We also found contact numbers of some Pakistan citizens in their mobile phones. A recording of their conversation with a man from Pakistan man was also found," police officials said.

Security forces have termed the arrest of the two brothers as a "major success".
