J&K Police bust LeT commander's hideout in Srinagar, arrest 2 aides

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday arrested two militant associates in Pulwama and busted a militant hideout in the downtown area of the district. Police got the tip-off from one of the arrested over ground workers

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday arrested two militant associates in Pulwama and busted a militant hideout in the downtown area of the district. During interrogation, one of the apprehended over ground workers (OGWs) revealed to the police that a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Riyaz Sathrgund has been hiding in a house in the district.

"Pulwama Police and 50 RR with the assistance of CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Raziakadal in Nowhatta area of Srinagar. During searches, a hideout was discovered in the house," police said, adding that Riyaz Sathrgund is a wanted LeT commander and has been active for the last three years.

J&K Police further said that it was Riyaz who had instructed the associates to build a hideout in the area and it was based on the intel provided that, a cordon and search operation (CASO) was launched early morning along with CRPF personnel and the hideout was discovered.

"However, the hideout was empty. The owner of the house has been brought to the police station and further investigation is underway," police added.
