Two encounters break out at J&K

Two encounters broke out between security forces and terroristsat Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. The first encounter broke out at Nowgam Shahabad, Dooru area of Anantnag district. The other one broke out at Marhama area of Kulgam district.

Anantnag/Kulgam:An unidentified militant has been killed on Wednesday during a gunfight between security forces and militants in the Mirhama area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, officials said.

"A militant has been killed whose identification is being ascertained while as the search operation is on in the area," a senior police official said.

He further said, "Based on the specific inputs, the joint team of security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area and when the team approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight."

Meanwhile, the other gunfight is still underway at the Verinag area of south Kashmir's Anantnag district.

"During initial exchange of fire, a cop and two soldiers of 19 RR have received injuries who were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. The operation is still underway," the officer said while sharing details about the Verinag gunfight.

He identified the injured as Rohit Yadav and Ishant of 19 RR and policemen Deepak Kumar.
