New Delhi:Indian Naval Ship (INS) Tabar took part in the Maiden Maritime Partnership Exercise with the Algerian Navy on August 29 as part of her ongoing goodwill visit to Europe and Africa. A frontline Algerian Naval Ship ANS Ezzadjer also participated in the landmark exercise held off the Algerian coast.
The exercise witnessed diverse activities including coordinated manoeuvring, communication procedures and steam past undertaken between the Indian and Algerian warships. The exercise enabled the two navies to understand the concept of operations followed by each other, enhanced interoperability and opened the possibility of increasing interaction and collaboration in the future.

INS Tabar's prolonged deployment began on June 13 and will visit a number of ports in Africa and Europe till September end. The deployment is intended towards enhancing military cooperation. As per sources, Tabar has been conducting professional, social and sporting interactions during port visits. Joint exercises with friendly navies were also planned, similar to the exercise with the Algerian Navy.

The goal of these exercises is to further strengthen maritime security in the region and to consolidate combined operations against maritime threats. These interactions enable the navies to observe and imbibe the 'Best Practices' followed in each other’s Navy.
Indian Navy's maiden exercise with Algerian Navy Built-in Russia, INS Tabar is a Talwar-class stealth Frigate. Commanded by Captain M Mahesh, the ship includes 300 personnel. Being one of the earliest stealth frigates of the Indian Navy, the ship is equipped with a wide range of weapons and sensors. INS Tabar is part of the Indian Navy's Western Fleet, based at Mumbai under Western Naval Command.
