New Delhi:Ahead of the eleventh round of talks between the militaries of India and China slated to be held on Friday, the Ministry of External Affairs said India would like to see disengagement in the remaining areas of LAC.

Addressing a weekly virtual briefing, MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, "We would like to see disengagement in the remaining areas which would lead to de-escalation in Eastern Ladakh".

"It would hopefully lead to restoration of peace and tranquillity and provide conditions for the progress of our bilateral relationship", he added.

He further said, “During the meeting on March 12 on the Working Mechanism on Coordination Consultation (WMCC), both sides had agreed to convene the 11th round of the Senior Commanders’ meeting".

The diplomatic ties between India and China have turned sour ever since the Galwan valley clash in the Ladakh region took place between the two nations. At least 20 Indian soldiers were killed in the western Himalayas after being attacked by Chinese troops using rocks and clubs. Both sides have been working relentlessly to ease border tensions in eastern Ladakh.

However, in what came as a breakthrough after a plethora of talks between India and China to resolve the months-long border conflict along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the two sides in February, have reached an agreement on disengagement in the North and South bank of Pangong Lake.
