India logs 42,909 fresh COVID-19 cases, 380 deaths

India reported 42,909 new COVID-19 cases, 34,763 recoveries and 380 deaths in the last 24 hrs, as per the Union Health Ministry.

Hyderabad:A rise of 42,909 COVID-19 infections, 380 fatalities push India's tally of active cases to 3,76,324 and death toll to 4,38,210, as per the Union Health Ministry at 8 AM on Monday. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease has surged to 3,19,23,405.

According to the health ministry, 52,01,46,525 samples have been tested till August 29 of which 14,19,990 were tested on Sunday. According to the ministry, 63,43,81,358 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive so far.

The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of 14,19,990 tests being conducted.

India has so far conducted over 52.01 Cr (52,01,46,525) cumulative tests. While testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, Weekly Positivity Rate at 2.41% remains less than 3% for the last 66 days now.

The Daily Positivity rate stands at 3.02%. The daily Positivity rate has remained below 5% for 84 consecutive days now.
