COVID-19: India's vaccination coverage crosses 92 cr doses, active cases lowest in 203 days

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has crossed 92 crore doses, the Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday. Over 59.48 lakh vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.

Hyderabad: With the administration of 59,48,360 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage crossed 92 crore (92,17,65,405) doses, the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday.

A single-day rise of 18,833 infections and 278 fatalities pushed India's COVID-19 tally to 3,38,71,881 cases and 4,49,538 deaths, the data showed. The active caseload stands at 2,46,687, the lowest in 203 days.

While testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 1.68 per cent. It has been less than three per cent for the last 103 days now. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.34 per cent, the ministry said.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, a total of 57.68 crore samples were tested up to October 5, of which 14,09,825 samples were tested on Tuesday.
