India logs 46,759 fresh COVID cases, 509 deaths

India reported 46,759 new COVID-19 cases, 31,374 recoveries, and 509 deaths in the last 24 hrs, as per the Union Health Ministry.

Hyderabad:A single-day rise of 46,759 Covid-19 infections, 509 fatalities push India's tally of cases to 3,26,49,947 and death toll to 4,37,370, as per the Union Health Ministry. The number of active cases currently stands at 3,59,775, according to the data updated at 8 am on Saturday. In the last 24 hours, the southern state of Kerala reported 32,801 COVID positive cases and 179 deaths, the Ministry said.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 51,68,87,602 samples have been tested up to August 27 for COVID-19. Of these,17,61,110 samples were tested on Friday. So far, 62.29 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive.
