India adds 42,766 new COVID cases, 1,206 fatalities in 24 hrs

Single day rise of 42,766 COVID-19 infections, 1,206 fatalities push India's tally of cases to 3,07,95,716, death toll to 4,07,145, as per Union Health Ministry.

Hyderabad: India reported 42,766 new cases in the last 24 hours, according to data released by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Saturday. The overall tally of COVID-19 cases in the country now stands at 3,07,95,716. The COVID-19 death toll rose to 4,07,145 with 1,206 fresh fatalities. The country's active cases have further declined to 4,55,033.

According to the Union Health Ministry, a total of 45,254 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total discharge to 2,99,33,538 till date. The Ministry said that a total of 37,21,96,268 people have been vaccinated so far in the country under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 42,90,41,970 samples have been tested up to July 9 for Covid-19. Of these 19,55,225 samples were tested on Friday.
