Hyderabad:A single-day spike of 42,015 COVID-19 infections, 3,998 fatalities has pushed India's tally of cases to 3,12,16,337 and death toll to 4,18,480, the data updated by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry at 8 am on Wednesday showed. As per the ministry, Maharashtra has carried out 14th reconciliation exercise of COVID-19 data in the state and as a result, the state’s positive case tally is increased by 2479 while the death tally is increased by 3509 in the health bulletin dated July 20, which resulted in a high death toll in a single day.

Maharashtra has carried out 14th reconciliation exercise of COVID-19 data in the state and as a result, the state’s positive case tally is increased by 2479 while the death tally is increased by 3509 in the health bulletin dated July 20, which resulted in a high death toll in a single day.
The country's active caseload mounted to 4,07,170. According to the Union Health Ministry, a total of 36,977 people have been discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total discharge to 3,03,90,687 till date. The Ministry said that a total of 41,54,72,455 people have been vaccinated so far in the country under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 44,91,93,273 samples have been tested up to July 20 for Covid-19. Of these 18,52,140 samples were tested on Tuesday.
