In almost 7 months, India records less than 20K fresh cases for second consecutive day

In the 24 hours ending at 8 am on Tuesday, India had for the first time in over 200 days recorded less than 20,000 fresh COVID-19 cases. In the next 24 hours, the country for the second consecutive day, achieved this feat.

Hyderabad:India reported 18,870 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, as per the Union Health Ministry. For the second consecutive day in over 200 days, India is recording less than 20,000 daily Covid cases, it said. The active caseload stands at 2,82,520.

The death toll climbed to 4,47,751 with 378 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am. Statistics showed Kerala recorded 11,196 cases and 149 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The cumulative COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country under the nationwide vaccination drive have exceeded 87.66 crore (87,66,63,490). Of these, 54,13,332 doses were administered on Tuesday.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, a total of 56,74,50,185 samples were tested up to September 27, of which 15,04,713 samples were tested on Tuesday.
