1. Babri demolition anniversary to be observed today
Babri Masjid Action Committee (BMAC) will observe the 28th anniversary of Babri demolition today with a pledge to defend mosques of Kashi and Mathura. BMAC convener Zafaryab Jilani also advised Muslims to hold meetings in private places in adherence to Covid protocols and send a memorandum to the President and Chief Justice of India, seeking a revision plea against acquittal of Babri demolition accused.
2. Cyclone Burevi: Orange alert issued for four districts in Kerala today
Cyclone Burevi remained practically stationary for 30 hrs over Tamil Nadu’s Rameswaram. Severe waterlogging was witnessed in Rameswaram and Puducherry following heavy rainfall. Residents of Rameswaram also suffered power outages due to the cyclone. IMD informed that the depression weakened into a well-marked low-pressure area. Fishermen have been advised not to venture along Kerala coast today. Orange alert has been issued for four districts in Kerala for December 6. Teams of NDRF are carrying out rescue operations in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
3. Farmers’ unions to continue their protests today
Farmers’ unions have decided to continue with planned protests across the country on Saturday. As the fifth round of meeting between protesting farmers and the central government once again failed to reach any conclusion, the next meeting has been scheduled on December 9.
