IAF chief flies Apache attack helicopter

During his two-day visit to airbases under the Western Air Comand, Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria undertook a sortie with the Apache Squadron.

New Delhi: Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria undertook sorties in the newly-inducted Apache attack helicopters during a two-day visit to air bases in the Western part of the country, the Indian Air Force said on Thursday.

"Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal #RKSBhadauria undertook a two day visit to airbases under Western Air Command on 17 & 18 Nov 20. He interacted with the #AirWarriors serving at these bases. During the visit, he flew a sortie with the #Apache Squadron," the Indian Air Force tweeted.

The AH-64E Apache is one of the world''s most advanced multi-role combat helicopters, and is flown by the US Army.

India is one of 17 nations to select the Apache and has the most advanced variant, the AH-64E Apache.

Earlier this year, India and the US signed a contract for the acquisition of six Apaches for the Indian Army during President Donald Trump's visit to Delhi.
