Arjun Munda calls Union Budget 'historic'

Terming the budget 'historic', Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda said that the budget has focussed on the welfare of the tribal students, which will ultimately boost the livelihood of the students in the long run. The minister said special attention has been paid to economic reforms, employment generation, capital formation and creating infrastructure in India.

New Delhi:Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda, on Tuesday said that the Union Budget 2021 should be seen as an extension of the Centre's Atmanirbhar and the Reserve Bank of India's economic package of Rs 27 lakh crore.

"Budget should be seen as an extension of Centre's Atmanirbhar and RBI's economic package of Rs 27 lakh crores", said Munda to ETV Bharat.

Terming the budget 'historic', he said, "Several new policies and programmes to support India's farmers, agriculture, infrastructure and reinvigoration of Human Resource have also been announced. It has increased the capital for Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) from Rs 20 crore to Rs 38 crore."

Further, the former Jharkhand Chief Minister said that the budget has also focussed on the welfare of the tribal students, which will ultimately boost the livelihood of the students in the long run.

This year, FM allocated Rs 7,524 crore to the Tribal Welfare Ministry. Out of the total amount, Rs 2393 will be spent on the education of the tribal students, Munda said.

The minister said special attention has been paid to economic reforms, employment generation, capital formation and creating infrastructure in India.

Earlier on Monday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced an Agricultural Infrastructure and Development Cess (AIDC) to conserve agricultural output and improve infrastructure in the Union Budget 2021-22.

The Finance Minister also announced an enhanced allocation to the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund from Rs 30,000 crore to Rs 40,000 crore.
