Chandigarh: The Haryana government will hold a high-level meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, at 5 pm Wednesday to discuss the ongoing farmers' agitation after the Supreme Court ordered that one way of the Singhu border, where the farmers are staging a sit-in demonstration, be cleared.

The apex court has ordered the Haryana government to negotiate with the farmers to open the way and find a solution.

It has been over nine months since the farmers are staging sit-in demonstrations at the Singhu and Tikri borders demanding repeal of the three controversial agricultural laws. The farmers have closed the road on both sides of the border.

Hearing a public interest litigation by Monika Agarwal, the Supreme Court ordered that the farmers protesting on the Kundli-Singhu border should vacate one way of the road. The farmers' representatives then told the administration that they would consider this matter positively.

The farmers will inform the administration about their decision after a meeting with other representatives of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha. Some farmer representatives said that in case they free one way of the street, they should be provided an alternative place.
