Chandigarh: The state level committee constituted by the Haryana government has invited the agitating farmers for talks September 19. The committee has sent invitations to 43 farmer leaders including the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha. Surprisingly, the name of farmer leader Rakesh Tikait is not there on this list.
In the meeting, to be held at Murthal, the issue of opening one way of the road at Singhu border will be discussed. It may be mentioned that the Supreme Court has ordered the farmers to open one way of the road at Singhu border. The Haryana government had held a high level meeting regarding this. After the meeting, state Home Minister Anil Vij said that a high-powered committee was constituted under the chairmanship of Home Secretary Rajiv Arora to comply with the order of the Supreme Court.

This high-powered committee will first talk to the representatives of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha. After that a decision will be taken to remove the road blockade.
The Supreme Court had ordered the Haryana government to negotiate with the farmers to open the way and find a solution. For more than nine months now, the farmers have been staging sit-in demonstratins at Singhu and Tikri borders demanding repeal of the three controversial agricultural laws. The farmers have closed the road on both sides of the border. Hearing a public interest litigation filed by Monika Aggarwal, the Supreme Court has ordered that the farmers protesting on the Kundli-Singhu border free one way of the road. The farmers' representatives had told the administration that they would consider this matter positively.
