Hisar (Haryana): Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala escaped unhurt as his convoy met with an accident in Sirsa on Monday late night due reportedly to dense fog and poor visibility. The car driver suddenly applied a emergency brake while other cars coming from behind in the convoy hit it.
Although the Deputy CM is safe, some of his commandos got injured and were taken to hospital for treatment. General life was thrown out of gear following widespread fog in large parts of Haryana and Punjab.
Cold weather and reduced visibility on roads caused in slow movement of traffic. Bathinda in Punjab recorded a very low temperature of 3.4 degrees Celsius. On an average, temperatures as low as 4.5 degrees Celsius were recorded at many places, as per the reports from meteorological department. Amritsar recorded a low mercury of 6.8 degrees Celsius and Ludhiana 8.1 degrees Celsius. Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recorded a low of 7.6 degrees Celsius.
The weather department said cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are likely at isolated places in Haryana and Punjab while dense to very dense fog is likely at most places over the next 4-5 days.
