Grenade attack in Srinagar

Srinagar:Grenade attack by suspected militants was reported in Hari Singh street, Srinagar on Tuesday. Sources said the grenade was hurled towards security forces and three civilians were injured.

The injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital. The area was cordoned off by security forces after the attack and search operation to nab suspected militants was initiated.

It should be noted that the attack was reported while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is on his two-day visit to the Union Territory. Few hours ahead of the attack, the Gandhi scion addressed party members in Srinagar. In addition, Independence Day is only four days ahead.The attack has aggravated concerns for security forces. Hari Singh street is one of the most visited place in Srinagar and the shops are a crowd puller there.
