New Delhi:Slamming NDA government over the farmers’ tractor rally violence at Delhi, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Thursday said that government is ignoring the actual demands of the farmers under the guise of such an issue.
Addressing an online press conference, Yechury said the violence that unfolded on Republic Day during the farmers’ tractor rally was orchestrated to use it as an excuse to repress the movement.
"Most of the farmers were walking with tractors in the parade on the fixed route and only a few farmers were allowed to go by a different route and allowed to spread the nuisance. The route of the tractor rally was decided to coincide with the police and on the same route, lakhs of farmers were walking peacefully with the tractors," Yechury said.
"There is a need to investigate how some farmers got permission to move away from the fixed route, reached Delhi and after reaching the Red Fort, they hoisted another flag near the tricolour," Yechuri added.
