Hyderabad:At least two people were confirmed dead in a fire that broke out at a four-storeyed hotel in Delhi's Dwarka. The two bodies were recovered. The firefighters received a call from the hotel staff at around 7.30 am and eight fire tenders were rushed to the venue, sources said. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained. However, a cylinder blast is said to be the reason for the accident.

A total of seven people were on one of the upper floors of the hotel when the fire broke out. In a bid to save themselves, they attempted to jump out of the building by tying sarees on the sit-out grills. However, two of them sustained grievous burn injuries and died.

The locals had previously complained about certain illegal activities taking place in the hotel. A complaint was also made to the police in this connection. It is also alleged that the building is being run without a license.

Additional DCP Shankar Chaudhary visited the spot. Further investigation is underway.
